MEDA 124 Medical Assisting Clinical Procedures I
4 cr.  (4 lec/wk)  Prerequisite:  BIOL 216/217, NURS 102. Corequisite:  MEDA 125.
Provides the student with the clinical knowledge, skills, and duties expected of a medical assistant.  This course provides the theoretical background for assisting and maintaining a medical office.

MEDA 125 Medical Assisting Clinical Procedures I Lab
1 cr.  (2 lab/wk)  Corequisite:  MEDA 124.
Provides the student with the clinical knowledge, skills, and duties expected of a medical assistant.  This lab will provide the students with hands-on experience with procedures and assisting medical personnel.

MEDA 224 Medical Assisting Clinical Procedures II
3 cr.  (3 lec/wk)  Prerequisites:  MEDA 124 and MEDA 125.  Corequisite:  MEDA 225.
Builds on the clinical knowledge, skills, and duties expected of a medical assistant as learned in Medical Assisting Clinical Procedures I.  The course provides education in specialized areas of the medical office environment.

MEDA 225 Medical Assisting Clinical Procedures II Lab
2 cr.  (4 lab/wk)  Prerequisites:  MEDA 124 and MEDA 125.  Corequisite:  MEDA 224.
Provides the student with the clinical knowledge, skills, and duties expected of a medical assistant.  The lab will provide the student with hands-on experience with advanced procedures.

MEDA 279 Externship
3 cr.  (54 hours/credit)  Corequisites:  MEDA 224, MEDA 225.
Provides the fourth semester medical assistant student the opportunity to apply theoretical and procedural knowledge in an ambulatory healthcare setting.  The student will be supervised by a CMA or assigned employee with expertise in the respective area of competency.  The COT instructor will oversee this experience to ensure appropriate goals are met and the students meets entry-level competencies.

MEDA 296 Cooperative Education/Internship
V 1-9 cr.  (45 hours/credit)
Provides university credit for a sophomore work experience in the area of Health Occupations Technology, supervised by faculty.  Learning agreement must be completed prior to registration (restricted).
